SOL

The Authentic Traditional Mallorcan Llaüt

Discover the Charm of Mallorcan Llaut

Step aboard Sol, a traditional Mallorcan llaut, and experience the essence of the Mediterranean. Llauts, crafted entirely of wood, have been central to Mallorca’s maritime heritage for centuries. Sol, built in 1973 by master shipbuilder Jaume Cifre in Portocolom and recently restored in 2023, exemplifies this timeless craftsmanship.

Llauts are known for their smooth and gentle navigation, offering a serene ride that modern fiberglass boats can’t match. Originally used for fishing, llauts became popular recreational boats after motors were introduced in the 1950s. However, the preservation of these vessels has become challenging due to high maintenance costs and a dwindling number of skilled craftsmen.

Sol offers exceptional comfort, a spacious deck, ample shade, and a 360-degree panoramic view. Renting Sol provides a unique way to explore the coast, accessing secluded beaches and coves with ease. It connects you with Mallorcan culture, offering an unforgettable experience that stands apart from commercial motorized boats.

What people say about Rapita Charter

FAQ — SOL (Traditional Llaüt)

Do I need a boat license to join a trip on SOL?

No license needed. SOL is a skippered charter — our captain handles everything while you relax and enjoy the ride.

How many people can join a SOL trip?

Up to 6 guests plus the skipper. It’s a fully private experience — no shared trips with strangers.

Where does SOL depart from and how do I get there?

We depart from Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita, one of Mallorca’s most sheltered marinas, in the south of the island near Campos. We meet at our private mooring inside the club — just a 2-minute walk from the entrance. We’ll send you the exact meeting point before your trip.

Getting there is easy:

  • By car: There’s a large car park right at the marina entrance. You can drive inside for up to 15 minutes free of charge to drop off your belongings and reach the meeting point. Full-day parking just outside is around €8.
  • By bus: TIB Line 508 from Palma stops right next to the marina entrance — just €5.

How far is Es Trenc from Sa Ràpita by boat?

Just 10–15 minutes. That means more time swimming and less time travelling — one of the big advantages of departing from Sa Ràpita.

Is all included in the rental price?

Not quite. The captain is paid separately in cash upon arrival: €60 for the 2-hour trip and €120 for the 4-hour trip. The booking price covers the boat, onboard services, and insurance. Soft drinks, snorkelling equipment, and fuel are all included.

Are the tours flexible?

Yes. Routes may adapt to weather conditions, and the captain is happy to take suggestions and tailor the experience to your group’s preferences.

Is SOL suitable for families with young children?

Yes. The llaüt is stable, calm, and ideal for families. The south coast of Mallorca is sheltered, so conditions are usually gentle even for the little ones.

Can I book SOL for a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary?

Absolutely. Many guests book SOL for private celebrations. You’re welcome to bring your own food, cava, or decorations — just let us know in advance.

What happens if the weather is bad?

If conditions prevent sailing, we recommend rescheduling to another date. If that’s not possible, you can request a full refund. The Rapita Charter team makes the final call on weather cancellations.

What is the reservation and cancellation policy?

You can reserve by paying either the full amount or a 20% deposit. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure — cancel through the website for a full refund. If you cancel within 24 hours of departure, the total amount will be charged.
