Es Carbó is one of Mallorca’s best kept secrets – and that’s exactly what makes it special. Over one kilometre of white sand, crystal-clear water, sand dunes, pine forests and not a single facility. No sunbeds, no umbrellas, no bar. What you see is pure nature.
The beach sits on the south coast of Mallorca, between Colònia de Sant Jordi and Sa Ràpita. It’s not signposted, not easy to find, and that’s precisely why only those who genuinely want to escape mass tourism come here.
How do you get to Es Carbó?
On foot from Colònia de Sant Jordi it takes around 30 minutes – 2.3 kilometres along cliffs and sand dunes. The walk is beautiful, but carrying a cool box and beach gear makes it hard work.
By boat it’s much easier. Sa Ràpita is the closest port – just a few nautical miles away. You anchor directly in front of the beach, jump into the water and you’re there. No walking, no carrying, no searching.
What to expect
Es Carbó has no facilities – by design, not by accident. The beach is unguarded, there are no toilets, no rentals. What you get instead is one of the purest stretches of coastline on the entire island.
The water is shallow, clear and calm. Perfect for snorkelling – below the surface you’ll find a lively underwater world. The sand is soft and white, the dunes behind are lined with pine trees and low scrubland.
The best time to visit Es Carbó
May to October. As with all beaches on the south coast of Mallorca: the earlier in the day, the better. In the morning the light is soft, the water is flat and the beach is almost empty.
